Fundraising Progress

$60,000 to purchase the Airplane

In March 2022, we successfully reached our fundraising goal of $60,000 to acquire N133JK, the Cessna 206 airplane in the photo. This aircraft had been involved in an accident while conducting missionary work in Haiti. Previously under the ownership of Missionary Flights International, they are delighted to know that this plane will continue to serve in missionary efforts.

Completed, Goal Met!

$50,000 for repairs

Goal Exceeded!

In December 2022, we successfully completed this phase of fundraising. Thanks to this vital funding, we can now proceed with the essential repairs to our airframe, ensuring it is airworthy and ready to take flight once more.

$30,000 for Avionics Upgrades

In November 2023, we successfully completed a fundraising stage dedicated to upgrading our outdated avionics to state-of-the-art equipment. The new avionics will significantly enhance the reliability and safety of our airplane.

Completed!

$97,000 for New Engine & Propeller

Progress

We are currently in the process of raising funds to upgrade the old engine in our airplane to an IO-550-F. Among the various factors influencing this decision, one stands out: the significant improvement in performance. The IO-550-F engine will deliver a remarkable 15% enhancement in takeoff, climb, and cruise performance compared to the current IO-520-A when paired with a new Hartzell Voyager propeller. This upgrade will substantially enhance safety, particularly when operating in and out of unimproved airstrips.

Rebuild & Upgrade Progress

August, 2023

The first step in the rebuild process is stripping the old paint and primer to expose bare metal. This process allows for a full inspection of the airframe condition for corrosion and cracks. It is a dirty, time-consuming, and tedious job, but it is a necessary step to ensure the best outcome.

October, 2023

Progress on the airframe repairs is well underway. The fuselage has been installed in a jig to ensure proper alignment of the attachment points of the wings and landing gear and to provide a solid, secure platform to do all the needed repairs found in the inspection process. Work has started on all the airframe components, including main wings, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, and control surfaces. It will be some time before it is complete, but it is great to see all the progress made.
